ALM Curtains
Headings
Eyelets are metal rings stamped through the top of your curtains, 40mm in diameter and work well on metal poles 28mm in thickness and under. They are available in antique steel, antique brass, satin nickel, chrome and black. They form a great modern look and are space saving as they form a very small stack either side of your window when pushed back and not in use.
Triple pinch pleat is a tried and trusted heading that suits nearly all applications and requires very little work once hung to look good and stay looking good. Once the curtains are lined and hemmed, we take the stiffened head (top) of the curtain and create three little folds and stitch them together. It gives the look that the folds have been pinched into place, hence the name. It suits all weights of curtain including voiles and gives a fullness to the fabric that is 2.5 times the width of the window. Pinch pleat curtains look great with poles as each pleat has its own ring and they all stack next to each other when the curtains are pulled back off the window with the flat sections in between the pinches folding back out of the way. If the curtain covers a track then these folds push forward and sit between each pinch.
Double pinch pleat is the same as triple but we just take two folds and pinch them together, a slightly more modern look with the same fullness as a triple pinch.
Pencil pleat is an even gather at the top of the curtain which, when hung looks like lots of little pencils sitting in a row. We use a nice deep tape (unless the curtains are very short) to give a luxurious full appearance to the finished curtains. A corded tape is stitched on to the back of the head of the curtain and the pleats are formed up by tying the strings in a knot at one end and pushing the curtain back away from the strings at the other. This continues until the top of the curtain is the correct width then the string that is left is tied in a knot and tucked inside the back of one of the pleats. Pencil pleat curtains arrive flat to you and are pulled up at the time of hanging to ensure the correct with is obtained.
